According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.75 square miles (14.89Â km2), of which 5.74 square miles (14.87Â km2) is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03Â km2) is water.[9]
At the 2010 census there were 8,380 people, 3,337 households, and 2,273 families living in the city. The population density was 1,459.9 inhabitants per square mile (563.7/km2). There were 3,690 housing units at an average density of 642.9 per square mile (248.2/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 89.7% White, 4.9% African American, 0.1% Native American, 1.3% Asian, 1.3% from other races, and 2.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.5%.[3]
